Week 3
New Zealand Parliamentary Buildings

The New Zealand Parliamentary Buildings consist of Bowen House, the Beehive, Parliament House (partially shown) and the Parliamentary Library (not shown). The complex is located at the northern end of Lambton Quay in Wellington. The Library is the oldest building, having survived a fire in 1907. Parliament House was never completed (the stairs were meant to represent the halfway point), and instead the Beehive was built on the remaining site. Bowen House was purchased in the 1980's to accommodate rapid growth in staff numbers (it is now privately owned and rented out however).

Queenstown Kiwi

Queenstown is a resort town in Otago in the south-west of New Zealand's South Island. The town is built around an inlet on Lake Wakatipu, a long thin "S"-shaped lake, and has spectactular views of nearby mountains. It is sometimes disparagaingly referred to as "Vegas by the Lake" for a perceived fixation on commerce-oriented tourism, especially adventure and ski tourism. It is popular with young international and New Zealand travellers alike.
