From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Newtownbreda High School is a secondary school in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The school was established in 1966.

The principal is Mr Colin Black.

The school offers a wide range of subjects: English Mathematics, Science, Modern Languages, Technology, ICT, Citizenship, Employability, Learning for Life and Work, RE, Music, Geography, History, Art, Home Economics, Physical Education, Drama, Careers and Business Studies.

The school has a very impressive library where pupils can quietly read a magazine or book or use as a haven to escape. It contains a number of computers all with internet access which pupils can take advantage of for coursework revision or simply to play games. The library is located on the first floor of the school.

The school includes a Pupil Support Centre which is coordinated by Mrs McClung. The Centre opened its doors for the first time back in December 2003. Its main purpose is to provide support for pupils who, for whatever reason, require specialist help. When a pupil has to spend time in the Centre, they are put on a Placement. A placement can last for a few days or a few weeks, depending on the circumstances for each pupil.

PROVIDED BY Chris Crooks and Mrs A McClung.
