Newsbreak (magazine)

Newsbreak is an online news and current affairs magazine published in the Philippines. It began publication as a biweekly paper magazine on January 24, 2001 and converted to its current format in 2006.
The magazine is most notable as a watchdog, having published award-winning investigative reports on government and official corruption. It won the the Jaime V. Ongpin award in 2001 for its investigatory reporting on the alleged corruption of Makati City mayor Jejomar Binay. Newsbreak's writers have consistently been nominated for the Ongpin awards since its inception, and the New York Times has characterized it as a magazine that challenges taboos.
Newsbreak's editor-in-chief, Marites Dañguilan Vitug, was named number forty-five in the Eurasia Group Global Leaders 50 of 2006.
