Newry railway station serves Newry in County Down, Northern Ireland. The station is situated on the Cross Border line of Northern Ireland Railways, next to the 18-arch, 126ft high Craigmore Viaduct near Bessbrook.
The station originally opened in 1856 as Newry Main Line, renamed Bessbrook & Newry Main Line in 1866, renamed again as Bessbrook in 1880 before closing in 1942. It was re-opened in 1984 as an NIR Intercity station.
The quality of facilities offered at the station is decreasing with age. Several temporary units, which are in declining condition, make up the ticket office and waiting areas. Translink announced in March 2006 that planning permission was sought from Newry and Mourne District Council to construct a new railway station to the east of the existing station at Newry. Platform improvement and extension is proposed, as are replacement canopies, a track maintenance building, an access bridge over the Newry bypass and a new 'Park and Ride' facility. Permission was granted for these improvements in May 2006.

The station is a calling point on the popular Enterprise express service, which operates between Belfast Central and Dublin Connolly. These trains call at Newry for both destinations at two hour intervals throughout the day. The station experiences favourable passenger numbers from this service.

Train frequencies from Newry are likely to improve if plans to introduce an hourly service on the Enterprise become a reality. At this time such plans are merely speculative and it is unclear if such a service would serve Newry every hour, or if they would operate non-stop between Dublin and Belfast. The concept is, however, encouraging.
