Newport students' union

Newport Students' Union is the official title of the student body of students at the University of Wales, Newport. All new students are automatically accepted into the Students' Union but can, under the Education Act 1994, opt-out of the Union.

The Students' Union itself is run by four Sabbatical Officers elected annually for run for a 12-month term. They are organised as such:

The President is the public face of the Union and the first point of contact for the media and university body. He sits on the Board of Governors for the University and manages the Union in all senses.

[edit] Athletic Union Officer

The 'AU' Officer organises all the various sports team within the Athletic Union. They are responsible for getting teams sponsorship, kit, transportation, accommodation and organising the annual Sports Ball and initiation ceremonies.

[edit] Education & Welfare Officer

The EWO is responsible for ensuring all students are treated fairly and feel settled in their time at Newport. Their most important role is liasing with lecturers when students feel they cannot.

[edit] Entertainment Officer

The 'Ents' officer is responsible for organising all Student Union trips, parties, events and entertainment.
