Newport FNY railway station, was, for ten years, the alternative terminus [1] of the Freshwater, Yarmouth & Newport Railway [2] . The new station, opened on 1 July 1913 after a conflict between the FYN and the Isle of Wight Central Railway[3], closed 10 years later on the creation of the Southern [4]. During its inauspicious existence passengers had a short inconvenient walk between the two rival termini[5]. Any trace of the station has long since gone[6] and today a funeral parlour occupies the site .
