[edit] The Velodrome

The Velodrome has a number of facilities including a 250 metre Siberian pine track, a function room/dance studio, free weights room, fitness suite, a drug-testing room and a multipurpose indoor sports arena. It has seating for 500 spectators. The Newport Velodrome hosts the Head Office of Welsh Cycling.

[edit] Swimming pool

The south east Wales regional pool was built to replace the art deco Maindee baths as Newport's (and the south east of Wales') senior competition pool. The pool is a 25 metre, 8-lane competition pool with a movable floor. There is also a training pool (20m x 7m) that backs onto the main pool and over 500 seats for spectators in the main pool.

[edit] Tennis Centre

The Tennis centre is one of the original buildings in the village. When the pool was built, it was built onto the existing centre. The Tennis centre holds cricket in the winter and many more sports in there. It also has cricket nets in one hall.

[edit] Cricket pitches

The village has two decent size cricket pitches. A pavilion separates the two pitches with a small seating area in the pavilion looking onto one pitch. Cricket nets were installed behind the astroturf in 2003-04 for the summer months. There are also Cricket nets in the Tennis centre for the winter.

[edit] Squash Courts

Near the cricket pavilion are squash courts and gymnasiums. There was originally 6 squash courts but the decline of squash in Newport has led to some courts being refitted to become gyms.

[edit] Astroturf

The astroturf is used for both Hockey and Football. Many local football teams train there for upcoming games. The astroturf is also home to a 7-a-side football league. The league has five divisions: the Premier Elite, divisions 1,2 & 3, and the Conference. Conference games are played on Wednesday and Friday nights, and all other matches take place on Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings.
