Newnham Primary School is a primary school in Newnham, Northamptonshire in England. Newnham primary school is a co-educational village school for children aged 4 to 11 years.

The aims of the school are listed below, they are designed to help our children to grow up to be healthy, hard working, well behaved and confident so that they achieve the very best of which they are capable.

  • To deliver a high quality education which emphasises the basic skills of Maths, English and Science and fulfils the requirements of the National Curriculum.
  • To maintain a caring environment with an enthusiasm for learning which is both stimulating and safe.
  • To promote the school as a learning environment where all members of the school community are encouraged to develop and be lifelong learners.
  • To equip all children with the skills to learn and to foster the desire and enthusiasm for discovery and learning.
  • To encourage creativity and acknowledge the value of original thought.
  • To value every child as a unique individual, encouraging them to develop a sense of self worth.
  • To encourage the values of a broadly Christian society. In particular honesty, respect, courtesy and selflessness, and to develop an understanding of the difference between right and wrong.
  • To recognise that the school is an integral part of the local community and that the school encourages community involvement.
  • To help all parents and pupils understand their own responsibilities as partners with the school in the learning process.
  • To develop an awareness and understanding of our national identity and our place in the world community; and to develop a sense of responsibility and caring for its peoples and environments.

Newnham school consists of two buildings, the most interesting of which is a traditional wood construction dating back to 1871 (todo: check date). (todo:add photograph). This original school building features in "Newnham School Hill" by famous photographer Francis Frith.

[edit] Recycle - Yellow Woods Challenge

Newnham school is a founder member of the Daventry district Yellow Woods Challenge and is a finalist for the 2008 Green award. The Yellow Woods Challenge is a recycling project that has so far raised over £300,000 for the Woodland Trust.
