Newfield Secondary School

Newfield Secondary School is a comprehensive school for 11-16 year olds. It is situated in the south of Sheffield in the area of Norton Lees. There are around 1200 students at the school.


[edit] Physical Aspects of the school

The school has its own private drive from Lees Hall Road which leads on to a split site with one wing partially demolished. This wing is closest to the entrance and is called the Applied Learning Centre (Previously West Wing). This wing now holds two science labs, the Design and Technology and Business Studies departments with some IT suits. Another Wing further along the drive, Newfield Learning Centre (Previously known as East Wing) is the main building of the school and contains most aspects of the school. Behind this is a tempory building called the Village which houses R.E, English, Art and Dance. Also situated on the site is the South Sheffield Computer Learning Centre (CLC) which is closed temporally for extention work and will open fully in September 2008.

The school's current pass rate (2007) is at 51% for 5 A*-C at GCSE.

The school is currently being rebuilt to bring new facilities so that the school can further education. Some of the new facilities include a recording room, a gym with seats for spectators and astroturf football pitches. On the lower field, there will also be a special school. It has been given the name Talbot. The school was started on in summer 2007 and is scheduled to be completed in autumn 2009. The whole school campus will now be called the Lees Hall campus.
