The Newcastle Building Society is a UK building society, which has its head office in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It was formed in 1980 as a result of a merger between the Grainger and Newcastle Permanent Building Societies.

In 2006, the Newcastle merged with another Newcastle-based society, the Universal Building Society.[1]

The society plans to open a four storey call centre building in 2008. The building will be at Cobalt Business Park in North Tyneside. [2] Also in 2008, the society's member magazine, Money Sense, launched a blog website named Newcastle Building Society Magazine Blog.[3] This blog contains content from the written Money Sense magazine.
