From Newark North Gate, train services are run by National Express East Coast and, from platforms 1 and 2, serve stations to Leeds, Newcastle and Scotland to the North and towns before London to the south. It is also served by a East Midlands Trains service to Lincoln and Grimsby from platform 3. This is timed to link with National Express East Coast services. Occasional trains on the Nottingham to Lincoln Line additionally call at Newark North Gate by reversing a short section from/to its junction to the north.

A raillink bus operates to this station from Lincoln Bus Station.

[edit] Station name

There is significant ambiguity about the correct form of the station's name. Different station name signs on the platforms say "Newark North Gate" or "Newark Northgate" (below right). On exiting the station, the old British Rail sign says just "Northgate" and road signs towards the station say 'Northgate'.

The NXEC website, says just "Newark" (as nxec does not serve Newark Castle); however, it does use "Newark North Gate" in its timetables. So, apparently, the station's official name is Newark North Gate
