New York State Route 952Q is an unsigned reference route designation for the portion of Walden Avenue outside of the Buffalo city limits in Erie County, New York. The western terminus of the route is at the Buffalo city line in Cheektowaga, where Walden Avenue continues west toward downtown Buffalo. The eastern terminus is at Genesee Street in Alden, where NY 33 and Genesee continue on the path followed by Walden. NY 952Q parallels the CSX Transportation Rochester Subdivision rail line as it travels east through the towns of Cheektowaga, Lancaster, and Alden.
Walden Avenue is the home of the Walden Galleria, a large shopping mall in Cheektowaga. NY 952Q is the longest non-parkway reference route in New York.[2]

[edit] Route description
Starting at the city line of Buffalo, NY 952Q picks up Walden Avenue's urban setting. Near its intersection with Harlem Road (NY 240) in Cheektowaga, Walden Avenue begins to change from an urban residential setting to a suburban commercial area, with shopping centers and stores lining the street. This is culminated when, at its interchange with the New York State Thruway (I-90), the Walden Galleria shopping mall appears on the north side of the road.
After meeting Union Road (NY 277), Walden Avenue becomes less commercial, being mixed commercial and residential. It remains this way through its intersection with Dick Road and Transit Road (NY 78). After Transit Road, Walden continues out of the adjoining villages of Depew and Lancaster into the town of Lancaster, where the commercial and residential areas also begin to mix with industrial areas.
Passing from Lancaster to Alden, Walden begins to become more rural, passing by the Wende Correctional Facility shortly before coming to its eastern terminus. NY 952Q ends at the intersection of Walden Avenue and Genesee Street, where NY 33 continues onto the straight route as Genesee Street.
