New York State Route 333 was a short east-west state highway located in southeastern Steuben County in New York's Southern Tier. The western terminus of the route was at County Routes 11 and 24 in Risingville. The eastern terminus was at NY 415 in Campbell. NY 333 was unnamed for its entire length. In between, NY 333 passed through the hamlet of Thurston.
The route was assigned in the mid-1930s and removed in 1997 as part of a highway maintenance swap with Steuben County, at which time NY 333 became Steuben County Route 333.

[edit] Route description
Route 333 began at an intersection with Steuben County Routes 11 and 24 in Risingville and began heading eastward towards Thrurston.[4] At 1.7 miles, Cranbury Lake Road began to the south. As Route 333 turned to the northeast, it passed Thurston Pond and the hamlet of Thurston afterwards. In Thurston, Steuben County Route 12 terminated at Route 333 as it headed north.[4]
Route 333 passed through mountains and intersected local roads as it heads eastward.[4] Route 333 then entered Campbell and intersected with the Southern Tier Expressway (NY 15/NY 17) at 7.5 miles. After crossing the expressway, Route 333 terminated at Route 415 in Campbell.[4]
[edit] History
The Risingville-Campbell roadway, originally unnumbered,[5] was designated as NY 333 in the mid-1930s.[3] NY 333 remained unchanged until April 1, 1997, when the designation was removed as part of a highway maintenance swap between the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) and Steuben County. In the switch, NY 333 and nearby NY 432, both NYSDOT maintained, were given to Steuben County in exchange for maintenance of NY 415 from Meads Creek Road in Coopers Plains (northwest of Painted Post) to Babcock Hollow Road in Bath as well as for maintenance of Hamilton Street (the original routing of NY 17) between U.S. Route 15 and Gang Mills. Hamilton then became part of a rerouted NY 417.[6]
As part of the swap, NY 333, now under county jurisdiction, was redesignated as CR 333. NY 432, however, was not removed for another 14 months.[2]
