New York State Route 323 was a minor thoroughfare in Erie County, New York. The route was 5.29 miles long and stretched from the town of Brant to the hamlet of Evans Center, part of the town of Evans. Route 323 began at an intersection with New York State Route 249 and Erie County Route 9 in Brant and headed north, ending at an intersection with New York State Route 5 in Evans Center. The route was assigned by 1935 and was removed from the highway system on August 14, 1980 as part of a major maintenance swap in 1980 between the state of New York and Erie County.
Originally, Erie County Route 9 terminated at the southern terminus of Route 323. When Route 323 was turned over to the county, the county-maintained Route 9 was extended northward over the alignment, terminating at Route 5.

[edit] Route description
Route 323 began at an intersection with New York State Route 249 and County Route 9 in Brant.[1] The route headed northward, away from the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. Route 323, which held the name of Brant-Angola Road, passed CR 491 (Cain Road). Soon after, the highway crossed under the New York State Thruway. Route 323 intersected with Dunfee Road, a connector to U.S. Route 20 before intersecting with 20 itself just afterwards.[1]
County Route 490 (Pontiac Road) intersected as Route 323 continued towards the northwest.[1] Route 323 slowly turned to the north again, meeting up with local roads on the outskirts of Evans. Later, Route 323 intersected with County Route 5 (Lake Street). As Route 323 turned to the northeast again, it intersected with local and county roads and passed through farmlands. Route 323 paralleled New York State Route 5 for a short distance, passing a junction with one more local road. Afterwards, Route 323 terminated at Route 5 in Evans Center.[1]
[edit] History
Route 323 was assigned to its current route by 1935.[3] The highway was removed from its alignment on August 14, 1980 and was given to the county.[2] The deletion of the route was part of the large maintenance swap in the 1980s and affected several routes in the county.[4] Erie County extended the nearby Erie CR 9 along Route 323.[5][6][7]
