New York State Route 279 is a short state highway in western New York, USA. This highway is a north-south route entirely within Orleans County.

NY 279's northern end is at an intersection with New York State Route 18, south of Lakeside Beach State Park, near the shore of Lake Ontario. It proceeds southward through the Town of Carlton to Waterport Station and crosses the Oak Orchard River at Lake Alice. In the hamlet of Waterport, it turns eastward, then back to the south-southeast. Entering the Town of Gaines, NY 279 intersects New York State Route 104 (Ridge Road) at the hamlet of Gaines. NY 279 north of NY 104 is maintained by Orleans County as CR 101 (Gaines Road) from NY 104 to the Carlton town line, CR 102 (Gaines Road) from the Carlton town line to CR 31 (Eagle Harbor-Waterport Road), CR 103 (Gaines Road) from CR 31 to CR 49 (Oak Orchard River Road), and CR 104 (Waterport Road) from CR 49 to NY 18. Continuing southeast, the highway ends at New York State Route 98 (Oak Orchard Road) at Five Corners, just north of the Village of Albion.
