New York State Route 162 is a state highway in New York, running from the Esperance, Schoharie County hamlet of Sloansville to the Root, Montgomery County hamlet of Sprakers, west of Canajoharie.
NY 162 begins concurrent with NY 30A, which continues south of the intersection with US 20. After 0.75 mile, the concurrency splits, with NY 162 heading westward. NY 162 is a two-lane highway for all of its length, although its final 1.25 mile has a climbing lane southbound as it leaves the Mohawk Valley over the Sprakers Gorge.
The northern terminus of NY 162 is at a point where NY 5S is split; NY 162 merges with the westbound lane on its left, and a U-turn lane provides access to Sprakers and points east.[2]
