New York State Route 141 is a 3.49-mile long state highway in Westchester County, New York. It connects the hamlet of Hawthorne (in the town of Mount Pleasant to the village of Pleasantville.
[edit] Route description
The route begins in the hamlet of Hawthorne in the town of Mount Pleasant near the point where New York State Route 9A and New York State Route 100 become concurrent. It leaves NY 9A via an interchange and becomes known as Broadway. It briefly overlaps with NY 100, with NY 100 soon leaving south on Bradhurst Avenue and NY 141 continuing east on Broadway. After crossing under the Taconic State Parkway where it has a partial interchange (access to southbound and from northbound only), NY 141 shifts to Commerce Street via Elmwood Avenue. From its junction with NY 9A to the hamlet of Thornwood, NY 141 closely parallels the Saw Mill River Parkway. Past Thornwood, NY 141 becomes known as Broadway again as it heads north into the village of Pleasantville, where it ends at New York State Route 117.
[edit] History
NY 141 was established in the 1930 state highway renumbering. It originally extended further south along Saw Mill River Road (modern NY 9A) to Old Saw Mill Road (the original alignment of NY 9A) just south of the junction with NY 100C. NY 9A was later extended north along the Saw Mill River Road north of NY 100C, with NY 141 being shortened to end at its current southern terminus.[citation needed]
