[edit] Route description

Route 11C begins at an intersection with U.S. Route 11 in Stockholm. The highway heads to the northeast, intersecting with a local road west of the Meadowbrook Golf Club. Route 11C crosses over a river and heads through residential areas outside of Winthrop. Route 11C intersects with New York State Route 420 and becomes concurrent in downtown Winthrop. 420 turns off towards Massena, and Route 11C continues out of Winthrop.[2]

Route 11C heads into Brasher Falls and intersects with local roads, most of which curve it onto Main Street. There it crosses the river it was following and turns to the south. Main Street continues along County Route 50. After leaving Brasher Falls, Route 11C heads through forests and residential regions, proceeding eastward. Route 11C later enters North Lawrwence, where it turns to the south. The road quickly leaves North Lawrence and enters the town of Lawrence, where it terminates at an intersection with US 11 and CR 55.[2]

[edit] History

Route 11C originated as New York State Route 2.[3] In 1927, the route from Stockholm to Lawrence was part of now renumbered U.S. Route 11. Route 11C was signed in 1982, as a result of a mantainence swap that rerouted Route 11 onto its current alignment.[4]
