The New York Perl Mongers was the first Perl users group. Brian D Foy created it with several other New Yorkers (including David H. Adler, Adam Turoff, Clay Irving, and several others) at the First O'Reilly Perl Conference in San Jose, California in 1997. David H. Adler has been running the group since 2000.
