New Town High School

New Town High School (NTHS) is a four-year public high school in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. It is located on the northwest side of the county west of I-795 in Owings Mills, MD.

New Town High School fairly recently built school, which is located on 4931 New Town Boulevard in Owings Mills, Maryland, across the street from New Town Elementary School. The school was named after the area. The school district borders Franklin High School, Owings Mills High School, Pikesville High School, and Randallstown High School.

The graduation rate at New Town High School was 92% in 2006, the first year that data is available. The school has only been in existence since 2003.[2] The school has added a grade each year until all four grades were enrolled. The enrollment is 92% African-American, while only 3.8% are White and 2.8% Asian/Pacific. As of 2006, 26.9% of the students receive free or reduced meals, a very high number relative to other public schools in the state.[3]

In the state assessment tests, New Town High School performs very poorly. In 2006, 34.1% passed Algebra, 47.7% passed Biology, 68.7% passed Government, and 45.2% passed English.[4]
