New Scandinavian Cooking

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

New Scandinavian Cooking is a cooking show currently hosted by Claus Meyer. The show was previously hosted by Andreas Viestad and Tina Nordström.

Beginning in 2003, the show debuted on PBS in the United States. It is also aired in about 60 other countries, including China, Germany, Italy and France. The first, second and fourth seasons were hosted by Norwegian food writer Andreas Viestad, the third season by Swedish chef and television personality Tina Nordström. The current season is hosted by Danish Claus Meyer, continuing the Scandinavian theme of the show.

The success of the series is in part due to its original format and its charming foreign hosts. The food is not made in studio but outdoors, on a portable kitchen that is set up on location, often in faraway places, like remote beaches or mountain precipices. The chefs show off different regions and dishes of their home countries of Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
