New Mexico Route 1 runs south from Socorro, New Mexico to Mitchell Point and goes through the communities of Luis Lopez and San Antonio and then the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. Further south it passes dirt roads leading to Fort Craig and San Marcial. Its total length is approximately 60 miles, following the route of old U.S. Route 85.
