New Kids on the Block is the self-titled debut album from American pop boy band New Kids on the Block.
Released in the spring of 1986, its very bubble-gum, pseudo early Jackson 5/New Edition-esque stylings failed to garner any attention, and as a result the album went commercially unnoticed.
Three years later, as a result of the success of their second album (Hangin' Tough), Columbia Records released the New Kids on the Block track "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind)" in an attempt to bring this album to the attention of the group's growing fanbase. The ploy worked. Subsequently the albums sales spiked, and New Kids on the Block eventually went 3x platinum.
