New Jersey State Parole Board
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The New Jersey State Parole Board is a governmental body in the U.S. State of New Jersey that is responsible for assisting offenders to reenter society as law-abiding residents. Former New Jersey General Assemblyman Peter J. Barnes was nominated by Governor of New Jersey Jon Corzine, and took over as Chairman in March 2007, after ten years in the Assembly.[1]
The Parole Board aims to focus on assisting ex-offenders in overcoming the main obstacles that keep them from turning away from crime: "Lack of employment opportunities; lack of education and job skills; lack of strong family connections; drug addiction; and mental illness."[2]
