Route 66 is a state highway in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It runs between Route 33 in Tinton Falls and Route 35 at Monmouth CR 16 in Neptune Township, and is used as a shortcut to get to Asbury Park. It also serves as an important connector between the Garden State Parkway and Route 18. It runs concurrent with Monmouth CR 16 from Brown/Wayside Roads to the eastern terminus at NJ 35.

Plans for an eventual widening are evident between Route 18 and Route 35, as the two-lane road travels on a freeway-like right of way. Businesses are located on the right-of-way, but the utility poles, fire hydrants, and landscaping is set back from the highway. Neptune Township is pushing for the New Jersey Department of Transportation to expand Route 66 to four lanes in anticipation of the proposed Jersey Shore Outlet Mall. However, transportation officials do not seem interested in such an improvement yet. With the highway quickly becoming a commercial corridor and still only being two lanes wide, congestion during peak hours is getting worse.
