Route 54 begins at US 40/Atlantic CR 619 in Buena Vista Twp. Known as Buena Hammonton Road, it proceeds northward along the eastern edge of Buena Vista Township. An intersection with County Route 690 soon follows as Route 54 gradually turns to the northeast. It shortly after becomes known as 12th Street as it progresses northeast. It intersects U.S. Route 322 before intersecting County Route 561 as it enters Folsom. It soon intersects the Atlantic City Expressway before an intersection with County Route 559. An intersection with County Route 602 occurrs shortly after while just to the east of Route 54 is the Greenmount Cemtery and a small park. It now passes by a series of small lakes and ponds as it enters Hammonton. To the east is the Hammonton State Park as Route 54 now intersects U.S. Route 30 and ends at US 30/US 206 in Hammonton.[2]
