Route 38 is a state highway in the southern part of the U.S. state of New Jersey. It extends from the Airport Circle where it intersects U.S. Route 30, U.S. Route 130, and Route 70 in Pennsauken Township to an intersection with U.S. Route 206 in Southampton.
Route 38 was originally planned to be a freeway crossing the state of New Jersey. Route 138 was originally numbered as a segment of this Route 38 freeway, but was renumbered when it became apparent the freeway would not be completed.

[edit] Route description
Route 38 begins at Route 30 in Pennsauken Township. It meets a partial cloverleaf interchage with Route 70. A four-lane road, it proceeds eastward as it passess by the Cherry Hill Mall. It then reaches a cloverleaf interchange with Route 41, before intersecting Route 73. It travels by the Moorestown Mall, before passing by the Strawbridge Lake Park. It then intersects Interstate 295 before intersecting the New Jersey Turnpike. Proceeding east, it intersects County Route 541. Route 38 ends at Route 206.[2]

Route 38 was originally planned to be a freeway crossing the state of New Jersey. Route 138 was originally numbered as a segment of this Route 38 freeway, but was renumbered when it became apparent the freeway would not be completed. Route 38 was created in the 1953 renumbering. Until 1988, Interstate 195 served as a replacement for an unbuilt section between Camden and Mount Holly.[3]
