[edit] Route description

Route 152 begins at Atlantic CR 635 in Somers Point. Known as East Maryland Avenue, it proceeds east, soon intersecting Sunset Avenue and Sunny Avenue. It then intersects Bay Avenue. It crosses Steelman Bay, and then crosses a river, known as Longport Somers Point Boualvard. It then intersects an inlet, before ending at Atlantic CR 629 at the Intracoastal Waterway at Egg Harbor Township.[2]

[edit] History

The first version of Route 152 was a .68-mile section of a road in Trenton along the Delaware River from Willow Sreet south to Warren St. At the time, Route 29 left the river at Willow Sreet and ended in downtown Trenton. Route 152 does not appear on a 1952 map, but is on a 1960 map. Before 1969, Route 152 was renumbered as part of Route 29. Today's Route 152 was legislated in 1969 as a state takeover of the bridge from Somers Point to Longport. It was numbered because of its distance to Route 52. The road was taken over in 1970, and a new bridge was built in 1988 to modern standards, abandoning the old bridge to a fishing pier.[3]
