Route 120 is a state highway in New Jersey, United States. It is a short route that extends 2.65 miles, connecting Route 3 in East Rutherford to Route 17 in Carlstadt. The route was created in 1988 when the proposed gap between the two Route 20s was not to happen.

Route 120 begins at an interchange with Route 3 in East Rutherford.[1] The freeway heads north-northeast, interchanging with the Sports Complex at the Meadowlands twice in East Rutherford. After the interchange for County Route 503 (Washington Avenue) and Paterson Plank Road, Route 120 becomes a four-lane surface road (merging with Paterson Plank Road) as it heads northwest. County Route 503 continues north-northeast into the eastern end of Carlstadt. Route 120 constitutes the border between Carlstadt and East Rutherford, crossing Berry's Creek and terminating at Route 17 and County Road 120 (Paterson Avenue).

From 1934 to 1953, it was part of Route 3.[2] In 1953, the section from modern NJ 3 to Paterson Plank Road was redesignated Route 20 and the section along Paterson Plank Road was decommissioned. This section was recommissioned in 1971 when the Meadowlands Sports Complex was slated to be built.[2]
On February 20, 1988, the road was redesignated Route 120 when it became clear that the gap between Route 20 and this highway would not be filled.[2]
