New Democratic Youth of Canada

The New Democratic Youth of Canada (NDP Youth or Young New Democrats) is the youth wing of the New Democratic Party of Canada. Any party member, aged 25 or under is automatically a member of the NDYC and is eligible to attend and vote in the Youth Conventions on both the provincial/territorial and national levels.
Unlike the youth wings of some other political parties, the NDYC acts as an autonomous caucus within the main party. It sends its own delegates to federal and provincial conventions and councils.
Traditionally, members of the NDYC have tended to be more ideologically driven than the rest of the party. Since Jack Layton took over the helm of the party in 2003, the youth base has grown and now incorporates a wider base of progressive youth.
The current NDYC Executive was elected at their Convention in Quebec City in September 2006 and is composed of:
