Coordinates: New Barrackpur (also spelt New Barrackpore) is a town and a municipality under Ghola police station of Barrackpore subdivision. [2]in North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

New Barrackpur is 17 km from Sealdah Station on the Sealdah-Bangaon branch line of Eastern Railway.[3]It is part of the Kolkata Suburban Railway system. Jessore road is the nearest main road from New Barrackpur (Bus stop-B.T.College bus stop). New Barrackpur is 22 km from Sealdah by Bus. Netaji Subhash International Airport is 5 minutes by car.

As of 2001 India census[4], New Barrackpur had a population of 84,183. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. New Barrackpur has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 90%, and female literacy is 62%.
