[edit] Brewery

The Brewery was officially brewing in October 2002 and was incorporated in 1994 as the New Albanian Brewing Company in a room that branches off of Sportstime Pizza.[4] The brewery established by Roger Baylor his wife Amy (O'Connell) Baylor and her sister Kate O'Connel.[5] This is the first commercial brewery in New Albany since 1935.[6] The first brewmaster was Michael Borchers which brought with him experience and used machines from the now defunct Silver Creek Brewing Corporation that was located in Sellersburg, Indiana.[7] Jared Williamson and Jesse Williams are the current brewers working the brewery.

In 2005, 14,000 gallons of beer was produced by the brewery, and with the new additions, the planned output for 2007 is double the 2005 amount.[8]

[edit] Rich O's and Sportstime Pizza

While the Brewery was officially founded in 2002, Rich O's and Sportstime Pizza have operated prior to its inception. The establishment began in 1987 with Sportstime Pizza and it has slowly expanded since.[6] The establishment originally a Noble Roman's franchise started by Rich O'Connell and namesake for Rich O's Public House.[5] By 1990 Rich O's was opened and soon under Rich's daughter Amy O'Connell's control. Roger Bayler signed on to help Rich O's in 1992[9]. The businesses of Rich O's and Sportstime are co-owned by Amy and Kate, the daughters of Rich O'Connell.[5]

Rich O's Public House offers 648 different beers to its customers in addition to its own beers.[4] However they refuse to serve light beer, deigning that as unfit for consumption.[10] In addition to refusing to serving light beers they are strongly against domestic beers and prefer imports so much that they charge $5.50 for a Miller High Life, That's more than most imports.

The Sportstime Pizza has regular varieties of pizza, however their most notable style is the refrigerator crust style. They also offer alternative sauces for their pizza such as Ranch and Barbecue. One of their other notable products is their Beer Cheese.

Located nearby Indiana University Southeast, it receives a good draw of students and faculty.
