[edit] Fair use rationale for New Norfolk Eagles

This is the current corporate logo belonging to Southern Tasmanian Football, used to discuss that company in the article New Norfolk Eagles. It was obtained from http://www.southernfootball.com..au/ . Use of the logo in the article complies with Wikipedia non-free content policy, logo guidelines, and fair use under United States copyright law as follows. The logo is used solely for purposes of identification and critical commentary on a subject of public interest. Because it is a logo there is no free equivalent, and the entire logo must be used to convey the meaning and avoid misrepresenting the company's corporate branding. As a logo it is significant because it helps the reader identify the company, assures the reader that they have reached the right article, and illustrates the company's intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey. Care was taken to copy the logo in a size and resolution sufficient to maintain the quality intended by the company, without being overly high resolution.

[edit] Licensing

Rationale:

  • The logo shall be used for illustrative purposes only.
  • It is a logo of a cooperation for which there is no free equivalent.
  • The use of this logo on Wikipedia shall not interfere with the company's commercial interests.
  • Low resolution image
  • No non-copyright version available, by definition
  • The logo is only being used for informational purposes
  • Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because it is the primary means of identifying the subject of this article
It illustrates an educational article about the entity that the logo represents.
  • The image is used as the primary means of visual identification of the article topic.
  • It is a low resolution image, and thus not suitable for production of counterfeit goods.
  • The logo is not used in such a way that a reader would be confused into believing that the article is written or authorized by the owner of the logo.
  • It is not replaceable with an uncopyrighted or freely copyrighted image of comparable educational value.
