Description |
New Zealand engineers busy at work on the Al Tannumah Bridge, Basra, March 1, 2004. The bridge is already showing signs of stress as a result of a 100% increase in traffic. The Royal Engineers built the Cullingworth and Al Tannumah bridges, which join Basra city to the northeast bank. Providing the main trade routes between the outlying rural villages and Basra's bustling markets, the bridges are vital to the local economy and the well being of Iraqi civilians. The New Zealanders worked alongside the UK engineers to build the bridges when they first arrived in Iraq in October 2003. |

Low resolution? |
No. Using a smaller image would make it impossible to see the details, defeating the purpose of having an image in the first place. It's not a scanned image, it's an exact copy of one that's available on the internet and being mid resolution instead of low resolution doesn't facilitate any improper use, as I'm not aware of any way this image could be improperly used. |
Purpose of use |
The image depicts the presence of New Zealand soldiers during the Post-invasion Iraq phase as part of the Reconstruction of Iraq. |
Replaceable? |
No free alternative could be created, it would be a derivative work. |
