According to the CNN article the volcano is over 18,000 feet/5600 meters high. What is correct? --—Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.167.26.18 (talk • contribs)
- Older refs often gave elevations as high as 5,750 m (18,860 ft), but those are not correct. The most commonly accepted elevation in current refs is 5,365 m (17,602 ft), which is given in the infobox in the article. The latest measurements by the SRTM in 2000 indicate a maximum elevation of 5,375 m (17,635 ft). So CNN is wrong, they should quote elevations from more reliable sources. --Seattle Skier (See talk tierS) 05:05, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
