Nevelsk (Russian: Невельск, Japanese: Honto) is a port town in Sakhalin oblast, Russia. It is located on the South coast, 123 km from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Its population is 18,639 (2002 Census). The town was damaged by the 2007 Sakhalin earthquake, leaving about 2000 people homeless.[1]
