State Route 168 is a state highway in Nevada, USA. It connects Interstate 15 at Glendale to U.S. Route 93, 25 miles northwest of Glendale.
[edit] History
State Route 168 was originally part of U.S. Route 93/State Route 7 from the early 1930’s until the late 1930’s. SR 7 was removed by 1939 and the highway remained as US 93 until 1967.
At that time, US 93 was realigned from 25 miles northwest of Glendale onto a new, more direct route south to U.S. Route 91. This bypassed Glendale and provided a more direct route between Caliente and Las Vegas. The former alignment was renumbered as SR 7, its original state route number from the 1930’s. It was renumbered to SR 168 as part of a statewide highway renumbering in 1978.
