[edit] Recent Revert
FYI - I recently reverted an edit you made to the main page template [1] - the edit (a) delinked the article, (b) split the description into multiple paragraphs, and (c) made it too long (it added a section I had previously removed). Just wanted to let you know why I reverted. →Raul654 02:52, Sep 9, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Rex, RFC
Rex is now listed on WP:RFC, Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Rex0714042 for vandalizing his talk page. You are wlecome to leave your on comments on this page. Kevin Baas | talk 20:59, 2004 Sep 9 (UTC)
- I thought about an ArbCom proceeding but I decided instead to add this incident as evidence in the current one, which I did only a few minutes after you started the "Rex 2" RfAr (and before I knew of your request -- otherwise, I'd have preferred not to give the ArbCom the impression that we were bombarding them). The reason I didn't start a new proceeding is that I didn't know what kind of rememdy to request. I don't like your "I request that the Arbitration Commit impose some form of disciplinary action on Rex" but I admit I can't think of anything better. The fact is that Rex should be banned completely and permanently but it will take more than the "feces" incident to get that done. A thorough compilation of his misdeeds would be a huge amount of work. JamesMLane 22:32, 9 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Welcoming Committee
I was attempting to do a query search for new members but got totally lost. I figured since you were a welcoming committee member, you probably had an idea how to do a query search. Care to fill me in here? I've been playing around trying to figure it out for the past hour. Please respond on my talk page (just in case I forget I left you this message here :-)--ScottyBoy900Q∞ 23:00, Sep 9, 2004 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. I was inquiring because I was going to do some "welcoming" in my spare time. I guess I'll leave it up to sysops. --ScottyBoy900Q∞ 23:05, Sep 9, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Korea
Hi, Neutrality: Can you review some of the changes I've made today (see my user contributions) and provide any feedback on my edits? I seem to be the *only* contributor on Korea-related topics these days, and I'm stressing myself out second-guessing my own edits! -Sewing - talk 00:12, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Self-references
Why did you revert Jimmy Wales back to the version that used self-references? Respond on Talk:Jimmy Wales where the reasoning behind the other form has been given. — David Remahl 05:13, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Tampa Wikimeet Cancelled
Hi. You had listed yourself as interested but unable to attend this weekend's meetup. I just wanted to let you know that I cancelled it for lack of participation; it would have only been User:TheCustomOfLife and me. But we should all get together on an informal mailing list or something to plan some activity for the future. Jimbo Wales 12:36, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Subject/headline
Hello...I understand you live in Florida, Neutrality. I was just wondering how things are gong with all of those hurricanes. I'm just fine if ur curious. Sory about your failed moderator bid (I just read through your user talk archive).

[edit] Re:Robert Linn
Please see Wikipedia:Alternative text for images. Current policy is to add alternative text, whether it is obvious or not for reasons outlined in the link above. There's of course the option of making it not directly visible by not using thumb or framed, but in Robert Linn's case, the alternative text still needs to be there, and since the image was much larger than that shown, it should be thumbed. --Jiang 00:04, 11 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- If you put the cursor over your version of the image, then the caption is blank (e.g. doesn't really work and basically makes "blahblah" useless). This defeats the purpose of the caption (or "alternative text" mentioned in the link above).
- I personally prefer having the caption visible in the thumb than to have the thumb have no label. This is just because the image is thumb, but if it weren't, Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Pictures says there doesn't need to be a caption for one picture bios (but it still needs alternative text). Feel free to do away with the thumb (which I advise against) but please don't leave it blank. Let me know if I'm not making sense. --Jiang 03:48, 11 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Fulbright Hearing
Thank you for tweaking and redirecting that. I appreciate your help. PS; Earlier today, I have stricken and reduced several of the various formal complaints I had posted/pending against you. Sorry for any past upsets. I hope to do better in avoiding antagonizing you again (or any further) Rex071404 05:36, 11 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Communism
Hello! Since you're a Member Advocate and are called Neutrality, I would like you to check the Communism webpage. Since I always try to b neutral and impartial, I feel the article is very much biased, but have not succeeded in convincing anyone that it should be mentioned that at least some of the consequences of this ideology for human rights around the world have been dismal. Most editors of that page seem to argue that Communism involves multiple concepts, so I would guess that it would be better to transform the page in some kind of large index page, with a header and links to all different aspects of the ideology. What do you think?--McCorrection 19:07, 11 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Fulbright Wiki links
I'd like to restore the wiki links section which you deleted as redundant. Rex071404 21:22, 11 Sep 2004 (UTC)
I noticed that just now, you removed those links again. Why are these considered "redundant" by you? And why does this not seem to be the same standard which is being used elsewhere? Please advise. PS: I waited all day for feedback from you on this - I am wondering why you would just go right ahead and delte them again without discussion Rex071404 05:33, 12 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Clinical Depression
Having just done some editing to this article I find my entries have been reverted without explanation by Denni. What am I doing wrong or is he/she acting unreasonably? --CloudSurfer 21:28, 12 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- This matter has been cleared up and sorry to bother you. I am gradually getting a feel for the site. --CloudSurfer 07:04, 13 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Rm comments in Zion
Wondering why you removed the comments saying "this is the beginning...end... of table markup" from the Zion article? The markup is initially confusing for newcomers, those familiar with HTML and those not. In the long run, I like it bette because it's clearer, but I always try to have those comments in place for new people who are editing. Particularly useful for articles that may be main-page featured where lots of new people will look. The comments weren't hurting anything... Elf | Talk 04:27, 13 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] More about Rex
I'm guessing you have the first Rex arbitration watchlisted, but just in case you don't, here's the message I've left for the complaining witnesses who've been less involved lately. The committee is now considering the following as one of its proposed findings of fact: "The compaining witnesses in this matter, because of their numerical majority, felt that Rex071404 did not represent a point of view which had a magnitude of importance equal to theirs, despite its societal significance." I got pretty cheesed off at this. The short of it is that we're being unjustly criticized, without even being told that there was a complaint against us. The long of it is here, here and here. It's produced a pretty typical exchange between Rex on one side and Gamaliel and me on the other. I mention all this only because the ArbCom is considering a proposed finding that, IMO, reflects badly on you, so I thought you ought to know about it in case you want to get involved. If you have more will power than I do and can resist the temptation to keep wasting time on this stuff, more power to you! JamesMLane 09:15, 13 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] RAOK Barnstar
Why did you revert my new Image:Raok barnstar.jpg image? I consulted with Mike H, and he was fine with my creating a new version. Actually, it's fine that the JPEG version was reverted, since my new one is now at Image:Raok barnstar.png, but you also reinstated the JPEG version on the Image:Barnstar.png page, and I'm not entirely sure why (all of the other Barnstars are transparent PNGs, and it improves the appearance on skins with non-white background colors). If you don't like my version, I'd like to hear why. I thought it was a nice improvement. If the smiley face is too smooth, maybe I could do something to help it look better. - MattTM 21:33, Sep 13, 2004 (UTC)
- I see what you mean about the smile. It looks odd to me too, now that I look at it more carefully. My main goal was just to provide a cleaner version of the image in transparent PNG format; drawing curved lines is my weak point. I just made a new version of the PNG, but this time I copied the smiley from Mike H's version over and just cleaned up some of the JPEG artifacts, and added a slight bevel to give it depth. You can see it at Image:Raok barnstar.png. Hopefully this version is fine - it's nearly identical to Mike's, except that it's cleaner. If you have no objections, I'll place it on Image:Barnstar.png so it can be put into use. Thank you for your consideration. - MattTM 22:29, Sep 13, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] ToDo in article namespace
Neutrality, hello. I just came across Frank Doran/to do and thought it a bit odd. That might be better placed on the article's talk page or in a subpage of your userspace. Creating a to-do list in the article namespace is actually an intriguing idea -- if everyone used it, it could be used to point people toward possible article expansion. I'm not sure, though, how article space subpages would affect our "official" article count. I was wondering if this is something you do normally? I've not seen it done before. Thank you. SWAdair | Talk 08:20, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Wow! I didn't even know to-do lists existed. That's a great idea. Thank you for letting me know about that. SWAdair | Talk 03:17, 15 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Your vote on this nomination at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship is rather confusing. You wrote "Strongly support" but listed yourself under Oppose.
