Why'd you revert my recent edit to the Joe Scarborough article. It's true there "has not been anything leading to even the possibility of him having a sexual relationship with her". [edit] Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Njyoder
User:Njyoder is getting into a rather large "discussion war" on . One of his more recent comments was: Then feel free to cite some instead of making a blind accusation. I've noticed you have a tendency to try to undermine my credibility and contribute nothing of value to the discussion. I won't be suprised if you can't cite any, because you know they'd easily get shot down.
I noticed that there was an arbitration request that went against him, and wanted to know what should be done (I'm involved, so I probably shouldn't take any action). At the very least you might want to keep an eye on the page, as it is getting out of control fast. --brian0918™ 00:38, 10 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Your suggestion on Media bias
Hi there. After some thought, I think it would be a good idea to split the media bias article - the focus on the US liberal vs conservative dichotomy (which as a European, I find confusing) runs the risk of turning the article into an example of media bias itself. I don't know how to do it though, I think most of the stuff beyond the section Liberal versus conservative bias in the United States should be moved to a sub-article. I've sopyedited most of the material before that point.
Also, I noticed that you've been on holiday to Israel recently - how come there isn't an overview article on the Israeli media? I'd be quite interested to read one, as you get a lot of references on talk pages to "left-wing Haaretz" and such, but I assume that the reality must be considerably more complicated. I'd suggest creating one, but I wouldn't know where to make the suggestion. Thanks illWill 17:28, 14 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Cantus motion to close
Before you proceed, please consider my posting on the talk page (Wikipedia talk:Requests for arbitration/Cantus 3/Proposed decision). I think the response on this case has been far too light and ineffective. If that's my fault for not being detailed enough, I can fix that. Cantus still continues to revert, using sockpuppets/anon IPs to help. He's in fact currently on a 3-day block (WP:AN/3RR#User:Cantus) for this exact same behavior. The proposed remedies won't help. -- Netoholic @ 17:56, 15 July 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Cantus' request for arbitration
Hi Neutrality, in Cantus' request for arbitration, would you consider applying an extension of Cantus' second case, which states Cantus is limited to one revert per article per 24 hour period. Should he violate this, an admin may ban him for a short period of time (up to a week), the extension being one revert per 24hr period to any page in any namespace? I feel that the current proposed decision will once again not make it clear to him that refusing to discuss and reverting without edit summaries is not acceptable. [edit] Standard citations
Um, why did you revert my edits, with the edit summary "restore regular sources -- standardization template is giant and arbitrarily limiting"? The templates I used were from Wikipedia:Cite sources, and I certainly wasn't the one who wrote them. I don't know what you mean about them being giant — unless you are referring to the way I tend to spread out templates so that each parameter gets a line; in that case, that's a problem with my personal style on which we are going to have to agree to disagree, but the solution would then be to get rid of the whitespace in my templates, not revert them. As to "arbitrarily limiting", damn straight they're arbitrary — just like red for stop and green for go is arbitrary or driving on the right hand side of the road is arbitrary. You pick a standard because there's a benefit to having a standard, even though one standard may not be inherently better than another. — DLJessup 01:55, 20 July 2005 (UTC)

Hello Neutrality. The article above has been speedy undeleted since overriding a validly closed "no consensus" debate in which you participated is obviously out of process. Please leave the Template:Infobox UKkingstyles page where it is for the moment. I am trying to explore a number of technical options and see if they can be used to build up a consensus to solve that goddamned style war. I am trying to create a series to see if they are workable and then discuss them quitely around the place first to see if a consensus can be built. The naming is deliberate. The UK link can then be changed to the names of other states, and the king can be interchanged with prince, princess, grand duke, etc. The name you created would be utterly unworkable for a broad bunch of infoboxes. Very importantly please don't use any of them yet. If someone uses them they'll just provoke the edit war all over again and kill off whatever chance there is of building a consensus on them. Let it lie for now and I'll test out options. (I am using currently locked pages and and show edits to test how different options might work.) FearÉIREANNImage:Ireland coa.png\(caint) 00:40, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've protected it (not from you, but to stop either side jumping in to change it right now). What I want to do is quietly show it on a one-to-one basis to some of the pro-styles side and see if they are happy with it, then do the same with the anti- lobby and see if all sides can agree on it as a consensus. I'm currently working on a papal one, and I'm going to try maybe a princely one tonight also before I go to bed. Hopefully, if designed well enough they will win enough middle ground support to stop this stupid war. (I am so fed up having to stop people adding in styles to pages without them, and deleting them from pages with them, and telling everyone 'look, leave them all as they are for the moment until tempers can cool down and then we can try and find a solution everyone can live with'. I warned the creators of 'styles at the start' policy that it was only going to cause the mother of all edit wars. They are all now emailing me to say I was so right about it!) [edit] Wikipedia_talk:Arbitration_Committee#Potential_admin_abuse_by_Neutrality
I have not made any complaint against you as this time, and in fact I spoke good words about your hard work. (I couldn't do all you do unless i were paid!) However, I did make a formal notice in anticipation to prevent. To go against consensus would be morally sinful, and you know that; -and furthermore, as a practical matter, not worth it, especially considering both the Chinese and Hispanic wikimasters agree with me on this point -and considering that I am right, as evidenced by the final vote tally in the talk page --and the google.com data.--GordonWattsDotCom 02:32, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
- I changed my mind -I decided to report you after all; What is your major beef with our edit? If you're here in Florida in my time zone, you can call me up and discuss your beefs. Additionally, what part of concensus is objectionable to you? Don't you know that even I accept concensus when it goes against me; Why are you special?
- "Idle threats based on a faulty understanding of policy do not concern me. Reverted." I have not made an idle threat: I kept my promise. See e.g., ArbCom.--GordonWattsDotCom 03:16, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
While I am convinced you are a bonehead, I respect that you have an opinion -and one other supporter, namely FuelWagon. However, I will not focus on my disagreement for two reasons:
1) I should thank you: If it weren't for your bone-headed actions, I would probably not have attempted to tweak the intro back to its former brilliance;
2) Even though you are a little dense on some details, Stan, Wagon, and I seem to agree on a "compromise" on the language that would put "euthanasia" back in -but with the description that some people think it happened and others don't -and with links. Bulky, yes, but agreed upon, it is. You are cutting off your nose to spite your face. Chill out: It will all work out. I am sorry of I have offended you, but I feel that my edits are accurate and not biased with a "POV," and we love to keep the readers informed, right?--GordonWattsDotCom 22:44, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] styles
Ok. Here is the set I have created so far. There are specific templates for UK monarchs, Austrian monarchs, popes, presidents, Scottish monarchs and HRHs. (I've protected them all, temporarily, because I want people to discuss them in principle rather than battle over content and design right now.) I've used a purple banner because it is a suitable royal colour and is also distinctive. They are eyecatching enough to keep some of the pro-styles people happy; one of their fears seemed to be that styles would be buried. But by not being used they are neutral enough to be factual without appearing to be promotional. I'd very much like your views. I'm going to put them on a couple of user pages and ask for a reaction. There needs to be a calm debate on them this time. FearÉIREANNImage:Ireland coa.png\(caint) 02:44, 10 August 2005 (UTC)

I like it. One thing I would think is worth doing however is either using the one colour for all styles boxes (so that the moment someone sees a box of that colour on a page they know automatically it is the style box) or to colour code them by post. So, say, a different colour for monarchs, HRHs, presidents, popes, etc. Colour-coding by nation I think would be difficult: people would squabble over what colour should the US president have (red? Blue?), the Irish president (Ireland's colour, green, or the Irish presidential colour of St. Patrick's blue?), etc. As with popes, prime ministers etc I think a single colour for all the boxes on styles would create an instant recognition factor. That is my view anyway. But let the debate roll out, only this time constructively, not the mess we had the last time. I think we need to follow a two step approach.
- Agree by consensus to go by infobox rather than opening words of an article.
- then, if a consensus is reached, decide on issues of what to include, colour(s) to use, etc.
That is why I have deliberately locked the pages, to stop people deciding today that x box should contain y, rather than do it together by consensus.
Thats for the feedback. FearÉIREANNImage:Ireland coa.png\(caint) 03:09, 10 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Func's RfA :)
Neutrality, it is very unlikely that you would have any reason to remember this, but you were my welcomer to Wikipedia. Thank you for that, and thank you for supporting my adminship, it was very much appreciated! :)
Please never hesitate to let me know if you have concerns with any administrative action I may make.

[edit] styles
