Neumarkt (Italian: Egna; German: Neumarkt, literally "new market"; Archaic (1018 AD): Enna; Archaic (1170 AD): Egna; Archaic (1189 AD): burgum novum de Egna; Archaic (1260 AD): Novum Forum; Archaic (1300 AD): Neuwenmarcht; Latin: Endidae) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Bolzano-Bozen in the Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 30 km northeast of the city of Trento and about 25 km south of the city of Bolzano. As of 31 December 2005, it had a population of 4,648 and an area of 23 km².[1] About 62 % of the population is german speaking.

The municipality of Neumarkt contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Laag (Laghetti), Mazon (Mazzon), St. Florian (San Floriano), and Vill (Villa).

Neumarkt borders the following municipalities: Kaltern an der Weinstraße (Caldaro sulla strada del vino), Kurtatsch an der Weinstraße (Cortaccia sulla strada del vino), Kurtinig an der Weinstraße (Cortina sulla strada del vino), Margreid an der Weinstraße (Magrè sulla strada del vino), Montan (Montagna), Salorno (Salurn) and Tramin an der Weinstraße (Termeno sulla strada del vino).

Around 60% of the population is German-speaking. Neumarkt is the chief town of the Überetsch-Unterland district. It is the main cultural, historical and artistic center with a very nice old town. The agglomeration includes the neighborhoods of Vill, Laag and Mazon. In the entire district Neumarkt is only the third most populated town after Laives and Eppan, they are agglomerated to the capital city Bolzano.

The town is situated on the plain (214 m), on the left side of the Adige river, 25 km south of Bolzano. Neumarkt is a town with a lot of services, offices, shops, supermarkets, bus and rail station and a motorway exit.

Neumarkt was a Roman village on the Claudia Augusta road it was called Endidae. The sightseeing include the old Roman house, the arcades of the old town, the parish church, the Local Culture Museum, the church of Vill.
