The Neues Rathaus (German: New Town Hall) is the town hall of Hanover and possibly the best well-known local landmark. It is the home to the governing mayor and the city administration. The landmark was designed by the architects Eggert and Halmhuber and is grounded on 6,026 beech-tree piles. It replaced the 'old' City Hall at the market place, whose oldest part dates back to 1410.
