Talk:NetSpend Corporation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is my first time posting ot Wikipedia but I would like to bring attention to companies that are making a mark in the economical landscape. Because of NetSpend's ubiquity in retail I believe they are a good candidate. I have inquires into the company regarding where they rank as far as overall volume for debit card products sold. Early indications is that they are the largest producers of gift card plastic in the United States. If this is true then it is significant. I also found that the card products have some really unique features such as two way text messaging for account info but I am not sure if too detailed or technical for this profile page. Can someone advise on this?Browncom 06:11, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Most important piece of advice: there must be some third party sources for everything significant that you say. In particular, the awards you mention are good criteria, but they should be backed by references to newspaper or trade magazine sources reporting them. Web or print is OK. Similarly, if this company is the major one in he field, there will be articles at least in trade magazines discussing it. You are the person best positioned for finding them. Further, no company gets to be in a dominant position in this or related industries without some litigation. Cite it.
- And yes, more technical discussion is appropriate, but it should not come from the company web page or product information. If they are major features, there will be 3rd party sources or interviews talking about them. If you have any industry statistics, put them in with a reference. And there is something else--if any of the text is copied from web or print published information no matter where it comes from, it must either be rewritten entirely or we need a GFDL copyright release, putting that material into the Public Domain. Thanks for the input. I have added references to the awards as well as cited references for the product features. As a dig more I am more impressed with the company but less impressed with the industry as it seems predatory, but there is an apparent demand.Browncom 13:43, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
Predatory? Predatory ??? Are you kidding -- This company represents one of the mos eggregious, unethical and usurious products on the market -- prepaid cards are a brazen way to rip off the poor, the undocumented, and the ignorant -- there are TONS of articles about this industry -- and tons of state and fedreal regulations designed to protect consumers aginst them -- There needs to be a section on the controversies surrounding this product and especially this company.
