[edit] Management
As well as its headquarters, it also has an office in San Francisco, California, through its 2005 merger with Groundspring.org. Board members are composed of people who have previously worked with various other companies such as AOL, Yahoo! and eBay.[1] CEO Bill Strathman has been credited with making the non profit one of the premier online charity sites. He has worked with and received donations from a number of important philanthropists, including Kevin Bacon who uses Network for Good to promote his own personal foundation "Six Degrees" based on the popular game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.
[edit] Non-profit Services
Network for Good hosts a number of services for non-profits themselves. They can use their Basic DonateNow[2] service for free, allowing them to receive secure online donations. In addition, they are offered an advanced version of that service, Custom DonateNow[3] and an email service known as EmailNow.[4] Network for Good also provides a Donor Management Suite,[5] which allows non-profits to effectively integrate a donor database, donation services and email and newsletter services into one combined service.
Non-profits can access tools for fundraising, volunteer recruitment and donor communication,[6] and can receive free tips and training on topics including how to develop and improve their online marketing, communications and fundraising.[7]
[edit] Achievements
Network for Good, together with Yahoo!, initiated charity badge creation and promotion for bloggers and website owners who wish to present and distribute their personally preferred charity projects, and making it possible for others to get involved.[8]
Since its inception in November 2001, more than 325,000 people have donated more than $137 million to over 25,000 charities through Network for Good. Another 232,555 people have found volunteer opportunities through Network for Good. Network for Good has also helped more than 6,000 nonprofits raise funds, cultivate donors and recruit volunteers through its online tools.
[edit] Papers and Studies
Network for Good has published several papers and studies in the fields of online fundraising and marketing; "The Young and The Generous", a study taking data from $100 million in online donations processed through their website,[9] "How Crisis Compels Donors to Give Online", a study on online donations during disasters such as Hurricane Katrina,[10] and most recently "The Wired Fundraiser", a study reflecting how current technology is changing the world of fundraising.[11]
