Nethy Bridge
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nethy Bridge[1] is a small village in Strathspey in the Highland Council Area of Scotland. Since Victorian times Nethy Bridge has been a popular tourist destination for its quiet and secluded location at the edge of the Abernethy Forest.
One of the primary industries in Nethy Bridge was forestry, with at one time several sawmills in the area, but this has long since subsided, now much of the income is derived from tourism. The name is derived from the River Nethy, a tributary of the nearby River Spey, which runs through the village, and the arched Victorian-era bridge in the centre of the village. In 2001 the population of Nethy Bridge was 498[2], though this is likely to be higher now due to recent new housing developments.
One example of tourism in Nethy Bridge is the Abernethy Outdoor centre which is a residential christian outdoor centre
