For the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, the Netherlands entered One Good Reason, performed by Marlayne. The song received 71 points, and finished joint 8th, alongside Denmark.
The National Final was held on March 14 at the Dutch TV Studios in Hilversum, and was hosted by Paul de Leeuw and Linda de Mol. There were 10 songs in the final, with the winning song chosen by a 50/50 mix of televoting and "expert" jury.
