[edit] Break into comedy

As a demo Engineer for Intel part of Dan's job was to demonstrate on stage in front of thousands or even millions (if you count people watching on TV) how new devices worked. Dan found himself terrified of speaking in public. To get over his stage fright, Dan took a stand up comedy class. Dad realized he enjoyed comedy and began to pursue it.[3]

Nainan had his first comedy performance at the Punch line in San Francisco. It was a resounding success. His co-workers then invited him to perform at a team dinner for 200 employees at the Comdex convention in Las Vegas. Upon seeing his performance he was asked to perform for 2500 from around the world at the Intel annual sales conference. Over the next two years he continued to perform and various Intel functions. Including holiday parties and corporate events many people thought that he was a hired professional comedian. In 2001 Nainan quit his job at Intell to pursue comedy full time.[4]

[edit] Comedy

In April 2003 Dan won an open mike contest and the opportunity open for comedian Robert Schimmel, who invited Dan to perform at his shows in Honolulu, Hawaii. Schimmel was so impressed by Nainan’s act that he asked the young comedian to tour with him as his feature act at many of the top comedy clubs in the US. `

In 2004 Nainan was at the New York Improv where Canadian comic sensation Russel Peters was headlining. After Peters performed, there was extra time and Nainan begged to perform. Peters was impressed with Dan’s performance that he asked Dan to tour with him in 2005. Nainan and Peters toured both the US and Canada, performing at theater shows for audience that averaged around 1000.

In 2005 both Peters and Nainan performed to a sold out crowd at the legendary Apollo Theater in New York City, a show that Nainan produced. Peters became the first First South Asian to headline and sellout at the Apollo Theater in New York City. In addition to performing at the Apollo Theater Nainan has also performed at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona,Royce Hall in Los Angeles, California and the Moore Theater in Seattle.
