Nerve Engine was an alternative metal band from Leeds, UK. The band formed in 1999 in Barnsley, UK before relocating to Leeds in 2001.

Once in Leeds Nerve Engine self-released 2 albums, the second of which ('Underneath The Sprawl') attracted the attention of Collective Management who went on to release the band's EP 'Red Son Rising' and subsequent single 'One Chance'. Positive reviews of these releases and the band's live shows appeared in Metal Hammer and Rock Sound magazines with the former moved to describe the band as having "riffs that Hetfield himself would be proud of" and being "well on their way to greatness".

To support their releases Nerve Engine undertook 2 UK tours and also played shows with high-profile bands including Breed 77, Panic Cell, AntiProduct, The Butterfly Effect, Twin Zero and Engine Down.

Nerve Engine split up in 2007 citing their frustration at lack of support from the music business.

In the fashionista driven world of modern Rock music, Nerve Engine are that most sought after rarity, a band driven by passion, hunger, desire and most importantly, honesty.

With the release of 'Red Son Rising', Nerve Engine have created an EP of blistering songs, sizzling with energy, forged on the foundations of everything the band are renowned for. Soaring melodies are layered over thundering, riff-driven metal, all expertly executed and delivered with fury and power. It's the sound of a band fighting back from adversity to create something truly special, all wrapped up in 21 minutes of hook laden anthems guaranteed to stay with you from the very first listen...

As the quality of Nerve Engine's song writing has reached the next level, so has the live show, blistering in its intensity and energy. Building on their already impressive list of shows, including stints with Breed 77, Panic Cell, AntiProduct, The Butterfly Effect, Twin Zero and Engine Down, Nerve Engine have just completed their first full UK tour in support of 'Red Son Rising', beginning with a headline show at London's famous Garage venue and will be embarking on at least two further tours in 2006.

With Nerve Engine's rapidly rising national profile, a fanbase increasing every day (including many thousands of visitors to their website) and a confidence that only comes with complete belief in their musicianship and songwriting, 2006 looks like it could be their year, and with the interests of the UK's underground music scene in mind, it couldn't come at a better time...

[edit] 1999-2007

At the beginning of 2007, Nerve Engine Posted a message on their Myspace page to announce that they would be splitting up following their show with Rise To Addiction:

"After much soul searching, we as Nerve Engine have had to make the most difficult decision of our lives and decide to call it a day. Our show at the MINE bar for Rock of Ages will be our last ever.

After 8 years of ups and downs we are, as you can imagine, all very sad that it has come down to this.

There are no personal reasons, no bad blood or resentment involved. We are all still the best of friends and it will remain that way. After years of overcoming the odds that have always been stacked against us from day one and achieving some amazing things, things many signed bands with backing never achieve, we just feel that this has all taken its toll and have to come to the realisation that the industry side of the music business just does not want to help us and for us to progress to the next level as a band we unfortunately need them.

We have seen the bad side of the industry and underground music scene in the UK but this has been far outweighed by the positive side, the great people, venues, promoters and bands. We have met many, many amazing people and musicians who have inspired us and made us feel welcome. People who have encouraged us and taken us to their hearts and it is to these people that we extend heartfelt thanks, gratitude and admiration, you played a part in making this band as good as it was.

So to these people, we thank you for being a part of the history of a band that made a difference to people and a band I feel personally to be one of the best in the country.

Eddie and Collective Management The Richards, Allen, Burrows, Hodges and Diley families Sarah, Elena and Claire Gary Solomon and Andy Taylor Pete at Rocking Fish Brody Steve Kind Hot Prophecy Daigoro John @ Brutal Hobo Phil @ The Cardigan Arms and Fenton Forever Never Father Breed 77 Chris at Hub Festival Danny North The Fenton Leeds Music Scene Neil Hanson

most of all though thank you to everyone who cared enough to listen to our music, come to a show, buy a cd or t-shirt or who just let us know we made even a small difference to them.

There are undoubtedly people I have missed off the list as there have been hundreds of people who have contributed to the many great times we had as a band so I apologise to them.

On a personal level I have to thank Andrew, Kris, Mark and Iain for being in a band with me and I will always be proud to have played with the best group of musicians I have ever come across.

Finally I would ask all of you who enjoy our music to not let it die. Keep on listening, this band deserves to be remembered so turn it up and crank it out loud!

This has been the single most important thing in our lives for the last 8 years and it is because of you it has been the best 8 years of our lives.

Thank you for everything, we will never foget it.

Love and Riffage

David, Andy, Mark, Kris and Iain."
