Nerds On Site

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nerds on Site is an IT service company founded in 1995 by David Redekop and John Harbarenko with CEO Charlie Regan. Its business is conducted by independent licensees known as EnterpreNerds (eNerds). Clients include small to medium enterprises and residential customers, and are typically served "on site" at the home or office. Services offered include PC and network installation and support, web design, and security consulting. In exchange for startup and annual license fees, plus a percentage of revenues, Nerds on Site provides eNerds with a sophisticated web-based back-office system for billing, purchasing, and communication between eNerds, a 24-hour call center, access to the brand, collaboration and subcontracting opportunities with other eNerds, and web-based technology courses through their "University of Nerdology." Many eNerds drive branded red Volkswagen New Beetles known as "Nerdmobiles."

Nerds On Site now operates in Canada, USA, Mexico, Bolivia, the United Kingdom, South Africa, India, Australia, and Singapore.

In a 2007 episode of the CBC program Marketplace that aired on Wednesday, October 3 ("Getting Gouged By Geeks"), seven out of ten IT companies, including Nerds on Site, called by CBC failed to correctly diagnose a memory problem. A Nerds On Site contractor charged an undercover journalist CAD $114 for a diagnosis of a bad hard disk drive[1](04:25), though this was later refunded in full. David Redekop openly apologized for said contractor on the program. Nerds On Site issued this public response.
