The Neqa'el are Greek and Egyptian cat demons. These demons are menacing and threatening, but fight only when necessary. They are Egyptian gods and were worshipped heavily, especially by secret assassin sects across Egypt. Anyone who sought to do any harm to a cat was punished with a month-long torture that eventually ended in death as punishment for offending these gods. The demon in human form has long canine teeth, and a fierce and quick tongue. The sun god Ra was said to have spawned from the Neqa'el's saliva. One of the largest remaining temples to the Neqa'el is located 300 miles south of Faiyum.
