Talk:Nepal Bhasa/Comments
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nepali is the word for the language of the Nepali people. An effort to standardize this language has been ongoing for many years. Nepali bhasa means "the Nepali tongue," but the word bhasa is not required to denote the language. This language is not Sino- Tibetan, but Indo-Aryan, it is written with devanagari script, and is very different fromthe language spoken by the Newars. Radio Nepal is transmitted in Nepali, as each broadcast begins- "yo Radiyo Nepal Ho." Where "common phrases and terms" are listed, I see three topic headings, -English, Devanagari, and Roman script, yet what is seen in columns one two and three look almost all like roman script to me - under Devanagari, I am seeing Nepali language and another language under column three- perhaps these are translations into Newari- -- perhaps someone can clear up some confusion here.
